About the Area

Portlaoise stands at a major crossroads (Dublin, Limerick, Cork) although construction in the 1990s of the M7 motorway, which bypasses the town, has reduced traffic congestion in the town centre. The town has a railway station served by intercity trains between Dublin and Cork and by Dublin commuter services. Córas Iompair Éireann opened a rail depot south-west of Portlaoise town centre in 2008. The depot provides a high quality maintenance and servicing facility for the 183 new intercity railcars and some facilities for outer suburban railcars serving the Kildare Route.

“Traditional Cottage for sale” are words we often see however no truer words could be spoken about An tEalu. The owner of this property has gone to great efforts to keep the original features in this home. For those that are not original she has sourced or made the item within keeping of the original style of the house.

Some of the finer features are the high apex ceilings in wood, as well as wood panelling, the traditionally bedroom fireplaces and handmade fitted kitchen units in dresser style with a Belfast sink and of course a very traditional bathroom.

This is a beautiful fully restored home with thought love and care gone into every inch. It consists of 3 bedrooms, large bathroom, living room at the centre of the house with solid fuel stove which heats the house as well as the Oil fired burner off this is the kitchen with its quintessential half door.
