About the Area

Strandhill or occasionally Larass (Irish: an Leathros) is a coastal village and townland in County Sligo, 5 miles west of Sligo town. Although the main part of the village lies within the townland of Strandhill, it also extends into the townlands of Killaspugbrone and Carrowbunnaun. The area is well known for surfing. Amenities include an 18 hole golf course, pubs, restaurants/cafes, St. Asicus National School, Strandhill surgery, and a Seaweed bath house. It is also the site of Sligo Airport.
