Iconic Property Sold. Clonhaston House

An iconic piece of Enniscorthy history was sold recently by our office having been bought by a young couple from the local area, achieving close to the asking price of €439,000. The Georgian residence extended to 298 sq mts with a large tract of land of 6.77 acres approx. built by Admiral Rudd Emily Caroline Rudd (née Goodison) in 1862 and was inherited by Jeam Lamont whose mother was a Rudd. From her A.K. Shriver Roche bought the property in 1952/53 and it passed to the sellers. It has many unique features including impressive high ceilings, beautiful honeyed timber flooring, feature cast iron and marble fireplaces, original doorcase with paneled pilasters supporting “Cavetto”- detailed cornice on fluted consoles to name but a few. All of these highlight the artistic potential of a period home having historic connections with the Rudd family including Ellen Rudd (b. 1864) and Susan Dora Rudd (b. 1869), artist and exhibitor at the Royal Hibernian Academy. The new owners commented that:
