Walking in the Garden County

We all know Wicklow is famous for it’s beautiful scenery, known as it is as the “Garden County”. With numerous opportunities for walking, whether along the rugged cliffs, in the shelter of the forest or along the beautiful coastline, visitors are continually drawn to the natural beauty of this area. Part of one of our popular walks, the Cliff Walk (the lesser known cousin of the Bray/Greystones walk of the same name), which is accessed from the coast road south of Wicklow town, has been officially closed for some time due to fallen debris and erosion. However, good news! The walk is about to be upgraded, after Wicklow County Council recently reached an agreement about a land transfer from Wicklow Golf Club. In the meantime, the adventurous amongst you can venture there anyway – maybe without small kids (!) – spotting along the way the beautiful historic Wicklow Head Lighthouse and a tiny beach (nicknamed “Seal Beach”, for obvious reasons).
