History:

Built in 1871 with the St. Josephs Christian Brothers, it replaced the former Parish Church on the same site. It was designed in the neo-gothic revival style and the architect (JJ McCarthy) who designed it also designed St. Cocas Church in Kilcock.

The building was home to the boys school in Kilcock for over 100 years until the mid 1980s. In the intervening years it has been used by various local groups to host musicals, concerts and a multitude of sporting activities.

Kilcock itself is a vibrant expanding commuter town on the banks of the Royal Canal with a current population of approx. 6,900 as per the 2016 census. It is situated c. 33 km west of Dublin city centre, just off the motorway (Exit 8) and is located approx. 5 kms west of the affluent university town of Maynooth. Kilcock boasts excellent transport links to Dublin city centre via either road or by rail, as it boasts an excellent daily commuter rail service.

The town itself has experienced tremendous growth and development in recent years with a number of new residential developments under construction while the recently open Supervalue shopping complex has brought new life into the centre of Kilcock. The recently open Greenway on the banks of the canal will increase tourist numbers to the town in the coming years.
