What is an executor sale and how does it work?

When somebody dies, the task of carrying out the terms of their will fall to their executors. Typically there are two executors, and if the will includes property, the executors must obtain a grant of probate which authorises the executor named to administer the deceased estate.

And when property is involved, it is a good idea to start the sales process while waiting for probate to be granted as this can take some time. The sales process can even go as far as accepting offers and signing contracts subject to probate issuing.
