Rathmore House
Rathmore
Naas
County Kildare
W91Y8CX
Description
Set at the heart of approx. 10 acres of grounds, and Rathmore House is imposing yet welcoming. This substantial Tudor-style home has been lovingly maintained and updated and is immaculately presented. Laid out around a fabulous al fresco terrace, and with a separate internal courtyard containing two stables, plus a large indoor swimming pool and leisure complex, Rathmore is set up for the perfect work-life balance. Add a very spacious four-bay garage, and you already have huge options to make this place suit all your needs, now and in the future.
The principal reception rooms have a graceful and timeless elegance. With their wooden floors and feature fireplaces, bay windows and high ceilings, they make marvellous entertainment spaces; although the kitchen / breakfast room will doubtless also be a spot in which everyone will want to linger. Additional live, work and play areas include a study and separate home cinema.
The seven bedrooms are all charming and spacious, and the master suite is truly exceptional with views across the formal gardens, mature woodlands and surrounding lush countryside. A timeless oasis of peace, yet less than an hour from Dublin, and just minutes from Naas, Newbridge and Maynooth, Rathmore House makes the perfect base to enjoy everything that life has to offer.
RATHMORE HOUSE
Your entrance at Rathmore is immediately welcoming as the house opens up to a wonderful reception room where cosy sofas are drawn close to a fire with a feature marble surround. Dual aspect, this space is light-filled all day long. A great entertaining room, it is also big enough to easily house a grand piano. Beyond this, a wide arch lead to the stairs, but immediately to your left and right are two more gorgeous reception rooms, and a charming study.
The drawing room and dining room mirror one another, and both are dual aspect with bay windows and expansive garden and countryside views. Solid wood floors add a sense of grace, while well-chosen wall coverings add to the timeless elegance.
The heart of Rathmore House is a showstopper of a kitchen / dining room. This has concertina-French windows to the expansive terrace, and features a bespoke hand painted kitchen, with a dual Aga, marble-topped worktops, a feature fireplace and trunk flooring. An exceptional place to entertain, it is also equally at home for friendly family dinners and kitchen suppers. Also at garden level, you have a cloakroom, utility room, playroom and separate home cinema.
Wrapping around, and creating the third side to the terrace, there is a large leisure complex, with an indoor heated swimming pool. This is a beautiful space, with mosaic surround, swagged ceiling and trompe l’oeil murals. There is also a hot tub, double shower, changing rooms, and a bar area. The whole space opens up to the terrace, making it an amenity to be enjoyed year-round.
Upstairs, there are seven bedrooms. Four are to the front, catching the morning sun, and with beautiful views. Two are en-suite, and the master is a particularly dramatic dual aspect space with a walk in dressing room and ensuite. Bedroom seven has a spiral staircase to a top room, giving useful options either for a teenage sleep / study space, or as an au pair facility.
GROUNDS AND FACILITIES
Beautiful wrought iron gates set into stone pillars welcome you to Rathmore. Updated for the 21st century, nowadays these function by intercom, although once upon a time they would have been manually opened to welcome horse-drawn traffic. Horses are still at the heart of Rathmore House. There are two stables, and the approx. 10 acres of grounds are sheltered by mature trees and include lawns and woodlands as well as paddocks.
Closer to the house there are formal gardens, with box hedged paths and feature topiary. There is a classic walled garden with a sculpture centrepiece. The house itself wraps around a beautiful sun trap sheltered terrace for al fresco dining and lazy evening drinks. There is also a courtyard, and ample parking to the rear. Alongside this is a four-bay garage, which can house the most precious car collection, or be converted for additional stabling, workshop or other purposes.
Overall, Rathmore House has the perfect balance of elegant formality, relaxed family and play areas, romantic woodlands and lush paddocks and pastures. Truly the best of all possible worlds.
