About the Area
Rochestown is a predominantly residential suburb of Cork City, with several large housing developments such as Mount Oval. The area is served by two schools: St Patrick's and Rochestown College. An important trunk road passes through Rochestown, linking the area, as well as other villages in the lower harbour area, with Cork City. Rochestown Road also links Douglas village with the South Ring Road (N40). Local businesses include Rochestown Park Hotel, Rochestown Garage and a small "town centre" type development in Mount Oval.
