LOTS TO LOVE ABOUT LUCAN

Lucan is a popular suburban town in south Dublin situated on the River Liffey and River Griffeen and just neighbouring the adjoining county of Kildare. It’s proximity to Dublin’s city centre and excellent local amenities ensures the area continues to prosper and thrive as people are drawn to its community appeal.

RETAIL THERAPY

In the village itself there’s a selection of shops and cafés and it’s just a short drive or bus journey to one of Ireland’s largest shopping centres, Liffey Valley where you can enjoy a whole range of options complete with cinema and free car parking. A little further afield you have the vast retail Mecca that is Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, so all your needs will be well catered for.

FUN TIME FOR THE KIDS

On the outskirts of the village in Westmanstown is @FortLucan where you’ll find a supervised outdoor adventure playground that caters for children aged between 2 and 12yrs old. There are three huge waterslides, Crazy Golf, Go Karts, Ziplines, High Tower Walks and an area for the under 5’s so you can be sure of a fun family day out! There’s a large picnic area or they have food and drinks on site and don’t forget to bring a change of clothes!

You also have a good a choice of parks to enjoy which makes it a popular location for families living there and an attractive feature for those looking to buy somewhere within an easy commute (13km) of Dublin’s city centre. Try out the new Urban Food & Craft market in St Catherine’s Park each Sunday from 10am – 5pm which is running now until October.

FEELING PECKISH

Reeds on the River is in the centre of the village on the main street and enjoys a good reputation for a bite to eat and  Carroll’s Gastro Pub is also highly rated by locals where the steak on the stone dish is always a popular choice and recently labelled a triumph by one enthusiastic diner!

A DRINK WITH FRIENDS

Kenny’s of Lucan in the heart of the village opened its doors in 1969, family owned and run for three generations it’s well worth a visit or drop into Courtney’s of Lucan for some traditional music and entertainment throughout the year under its distinctive thatched roof. A great spot on a sunny day where you can enjoy a beverage of choice in the three-tiered beer garden and riverside terrace.
